Are you ready to elevate your research practice and use insights to drive business success? Regardless of whether you call it user research, UX research, design research, or product research, the challenges you face go beyond data collection. Senior researchers must not only gather valuable insights but also ensure those insights shape decisions, influence strategy, and drive innovation.

User research faces the unique challenge of being both a profession and a task. There is a broad set of activities that we call “user research” - including a large number of data gathering methods (broadly but not perfectly split between quantitative and qualitative). And there are different types of people doing these activities: broadly but not perfectly split between User Researchers and (as Kate Towsey calls it) People who Do Research.

This diversity in both who does research and what is even meant by research are important factors that influence the impact that user research has on decision-making, organizational beliefs and culture, and product and service outcomes.

This track continually adapts to the emergent thinking in the field as well as the needs of members but includes topics such as:

  • Having an impact with user research
  • Driving demand and buy-in for user research
  • Focusing limited user research resources on the right problems and opportunities
  • Building a more mature user research practice
  • User research leadership
  • Where user research should report
  • Scaling and democratizing of research
  • Trying to define quality in user research
  • Knowledge management
  • Research operations

This track is designed for experienced user researchers who want to enhance their influence, sharpen their leadership skills, and tackle the complex challenges of scaling research. From bridging the gap between research and decision-making to advocating for research-first cultures, you’ll gain advanced insights and strategies to position your work as a critical driver of success.
